Client: The Long Beach Island Foundation of the Arts and Sciences
Objective: Design a bold, recruitment-focused print advertisement for The SandPaper to solicit house nominations for LBIF’s 60th Anniversary Annual Seashore House Tour. The goal was to attract homeowners, architects, builders, and interior designers to submit architecturally significant homes while reinforcing the prestige and legacy of the long-standing fundraising event.
Target Audience: Homeowners on the North End of Long Beach Island with architecturally unique properties, as well as architects, builders, and interior designers seeking exposure for their work. The audience includes design-forward professionals and property owners who value craftsmanship, visibility, and association with a respected community event.
The advertisement leads with a strong, commemorative headline emphasizing the 60th Anniversary milestone, immediately reinforcing credibility and longevity. Bold typography and structured hierarchy ensure the key messages — event date, nomination call, and submission deadline — are clear and easy to scan in a busy newspaper format.
Illustrated home silhouettes across the top visually reference the diversity of architecture featured in the tour, reinforcing inclusivity (“Big or Small, Old or New”) while staying on brand. The “Calling All” banner creates urgency and directly addresses the target audience, transforming the ad from informational to invitational.
By combining authority, clarity, and architectural cues, the design solves the challenge of turning a community event into an aspirational opportunity — positioning participation as both prestigious and accessible while driving timely nominations.
