Client: The Long Beach Island Foundation of the Arts and Sciences
Objective: Design a festive, community-focused print advertisement for The SandPaper to promote LBIF’s Holiday Market Festival and Small Business Saturday events. The goal was to drive local attendance, encourage holiday shopping at LBIF, and position the Foundation as a vibrant seasonal destination that supports artists, makers, and small businesses.
Target Audience: Local Long Beach Island residents, year-round homeowners, and surrounding coastal community members doing their holiday shopping. The audience includes families, art lovers, and community-minded shoppers seeking unique, locally made gifts while supporting small businesses and nonprofit organizations.
The design uses a split-color layout to clearly differentiate and equally highlight both events, ensuring neither message competes for attention. Festive yet refined seasonal colors create warmth without relying on cliché holiday imagery, allowing the ad to feel elevated and consistent with LBIF’s arts-focused identity.
Strong typographic hierarchy guides readers from bold event titles to dates and descriptive details, making key information easy to scan in a busy newspaper environment. Vendor highlights and sponsor recognition build credibility and demonstrate community involvement, reinforcing the event’s local impact.
By balancing celebration with clarity, the design solves the challenge of promoting multiple events within a single ad space while maintaining readability, brand consistency, and a strong call to attend and shop local.
